This weeks blog is about you … about your story … and more specifically, what does the story you are telling say about your needs?
You know when someone posts a photo on Facebook they are looking for some sort of response.
You know when someone posts a comment like ‘such a bad day … humpfff’ they are looking for some sort of response.
You know when someone posts a long, long, loooooooong diatribe they are looking for some sort of response.
But what response are they looking for?
It can tell you a lot about people when you understand what our basic human needs are.
David Ji writes and speaks about the basic needs of the heart: attention, affection, appreciation and acceptance.
We are all running around every day looking to get a fix of these four things.
Social Media allows us to express ourselves more freely than if we were standing face-to-face.
There is safety in typing your needs on a computer or on your phone.
You can get your fix by getting some likes on a post.
Or even better some comments from people saying ‘you are awesome!’ or ‘I love you’ or ‘stay strong’.
Some people really struggle to say any of those things to you if they are standing in the room.
I am working on creating more funds for the publishing of my book … and it’s been stressful.
And I am aware that this is activating my need for acceptance.
When things don’t work out the way we had hoped, sometimes we can be very hard on ourselves.
This lack of acceptance of the situation creates more stress.
So, I am spending my personal development time each day being more accepting and kind to myself.
I’d love for you to share your story with me this week.
What is coming up for you? And what unmet heart need do you think it relates too?
If you are not sure what your unmet need is … ask the questions?
Do I need attention (to be seen and heard)?
Do I need affection (love)?
Do I need appreciation (recognition)? or
Do I need acceptance (forgiveness)?
